Friends of Ilkley Moor (FoIM) hosted an event on Sunday, July 19, giving participants the opportunity to learn about the wide variety of plants, trees, mosses and lichens found across the moor. The group explored the lower slopes of the moor before visiting the upper and lower tarns and a nearby wetland area. The guided walks to discover plants on Ilkley Moor (Image: FoIM)Walkers also discovered grasses such as Yorkshire fog, crested dog's-tail, cocksfoot, sweet vernal grass and meadow grass, alongside wildflowers including yarrow, bird's-foot trefoil and tormentil. In the wetland areas, participants were shown flowering rush, compact rush, bog asphodel, cranberry, cotton grass, sphagnum moss, meadowsweet and sedges.
