He said the 49-year-old defendant picked up the purse and made three separate transactions on her credit card.
Mr Dacre said the victim only realised her purse was missing when she started to receive bank notifications on her mobile phone of transactions being spent.
The court heard the defendant spent £18.05 in Co-Op, as well as making two other payments of £33.79 and £47.15 in other stores.
In defence, solicitor Michael Graham said: “The card use was opportunistic on the spur of moment.
Magistrates sentenced the defendant to a medium-level 12-month community order with one requirement of completing 80 hours of unpaid work.
