The meeting was held at the Baldwin County Meriwether Fire Station and drew several residents from Baldwin and neighboring Putnam County.
Pam Peacock and Judy Veal, both Baldwin County residents, have been involved in the opposition movement in Putnam County.
“You ask why would somebody in Baldwin County do that; first of all, they are our neighbors,” Peacock said.
“Second of all, I work in Putnam County and my mother lives in Putnam County, so I have strong ties to Putnam County as well.”
Little said he later learned about the mining company wanting to start operations off 212 during a conversation with Peacock.
