TMID Editorial: Public broadcasting must belong to the public
[]
The Malta Independent
The government has defended the figures by arguing that ministers naturally generate more news because they are responsible for announcing policies, projects and public services.
Yet public broadcasting is held to a higher standard than any other media outlet.
It belongs equally to Labour supporters, Nationalist supporters, supporters of smaller parties and those with no political allegiance at all.
Governments change, opposition parties change, the faces on television change, yet the complaints remain remarkably similar.
Public broadcasting should never be another battlefield in Malta's endless political war.
