All paving work on the runway at VC Bird International Airport has been completed, moving the ongoing rehabilitation project into its final testing, commissioning and regulatory approval stages. Outstanding work includes runway grooving, airfield pavement markings and the installation, testing and commissioning of the remaining airfield ground-lighting system. Engineers must also conduct an aerodrome survey to verify the locations of the lighting system and pavement markings. Flight inspections, equipment calibration and runway friction testing will also be carried out. The runway rehabilitation project is expected to be completed in late August.
