The 1992 David Lynch TV series cancelled after three episodes: “They really hated it”One of the greatest indications that film and television executives don’t have a creative bone in their bodies is that the late, great David Lynch routinely had to fight said executives to have his various artistic visions brought to life on the screen.
Hot off the success of Twin Peaks, Frost and Lynch immediately cooked up another idea for a serial, though this one bore very little resemblance to the tale of Laura Palmer and Agent Cooper.
“During that time, everything was going belly up with Twin Peaks,” Lynch once recalled, harking back to the infamous production difficulties and financial issues faced by his previous show.
To suggest that the show is any kind of ‘forgotten masterpiece’ from David Lynch’s career would be needlessly contrarian.
Today, the show remains a largely omitted obscurity from the beloved output of David Lynch, but thanks to a few scratchy VHS rips being shared around the Internet, the show has amassed a certain surreal charm along with an admittedly small cult audience.
