Hong, a 37-year-old state representative from deep-blue Madison, has emerged as a top contender in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary. She ran for governor in 2018, when 10 candidates competed in the Democratic primary for the chance to unseat then-Republican Gov. In 2012, she ran for Congress and lost the Democratic primary to now-U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan.
