Police were alerted that a vehicle left River Road and entered the St. Clair River on Tuesday, just before 3:30 p.m. OPP said. Article contentThe lone occupant, an 84-year-old from Walpole Island First Nation, was recovered and pronounced deceased at the scene, OPP said. River Road was closed between Sands Lane and Chiefs Road for several hours to allow for the investigation, but has since reopened as the investigation continues. Members of the Walpole Island police were assisted by Lambton County OPP, the Walpole Island fire department, Emergency Medical Services, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, and St. Clair County Sherriff’s Office.
