The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has assured management and staff of the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) that the government has no intention of selling the state-owned aluminium producer. Instead, he said Cabinet had approved the search for a strategic investor to inject the capital needed to revive the struggling company. We are only looking for the right partner to help turn the company around," Mr Buah said. Mr Buah said the government believes bringing on board a strategic investor is the most viable option to modernise the plant, clear its debts and create more employment opportunities for Ghanaians. Dr Sambian also assured staff that management would ensure their interests remained central throughout negotiations with any prospective investor.
