CLOUD — More than 25 years after 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped in St. Joseph, Minnesota, director Chris Newberry began filming a documentary about the unexplained disappearance. The semi-traditional documentary Newberry envisioned when he convinced the Wetterlings to let him tell their son’s story was quickly thrown out. "Echoes in the Night: The Search for Jacob Wetterling," which debuted in April at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival will screen in St. They founded what is now the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, to improve children’s safety and advocate for missing children. “I want people to see how the Wetterlings, like, handle themselves with grace and strength throughout the whole thing," Newberry said.
