Nelson, a Doberman who was badly abused and left with skull fractures and multiple injuries, was discovered terrified and trembling by RSPCA officers in London after reports that a man had tried to strangle a dog.
The "plucky pooch" was taken to the RSPCA Finsbury Park Animal Hospital, where he spent more than a year undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

"My daughter Sophie Berry saw Nelson on the RSPCA website and saw he had had it rough, which appealed to her - and the fact we could help - and she knew it would appeal to me.
In a court hearing last year, Nelson’s former owner was convicted of four Animal Welfare Act offences, including inflicting blunt force trauma on Nelson.
