The budget supermarket chain has listed Hitchin, Ware, and St Albans as its target areas for future expansion in the county. It comes after Aldi Watford High Street opened opposite Sainsbury’s in Albert Road South on June 25, the second branch to come to the town after the Dalton Way shop. “Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.” “This forms part of Aldi’s wider UK expansion, with the supermarket investing over £370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide. “Aldi is seeking freehold, leasehold or long leasehold sites in prominent locations with good visibility and access, and is encouraging landowners and agents in Hertfordshire to come forward with suitable opportunities.”
