Massachusetts could permit traffic speed cameras to operate statewide.
The cameras may become operational if a version of the state Legislature's $575 million economic development bill becomes law.
According to a Boston Globe report, under the proposal, municipalities could place cameras in school zones or safety zones with a limit of one camera per 5,000 residents.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Transportation could deploy cameras in active construction or work zones.
According to that report, Boston drivers go approximately 3.7 years between collision claims.
