Organisers say no two visits are ever the same, with every corner of Sidmouth offering something new to discover throughout the week. The programme opens with a traditional welcome in Market Square on Thursday, July 30, featuring Great Western Morris, Sidmouth Steppers North West Morris and the Sidmouth Traditional Mummers before a packed schedule begins the following day. Visitors can expect everything from concerts by major folk artists to free fringe performances, exhibitions, children's activities and late-night music sessions. Festival directors Tash Daly and Jason Knight describe Sidmouth as "the week where music, dance and song fill every corner of this beautiful seaside town", welcoming everyone from first-time visitors to long-time supporters. Presented by the not-for-profit Sidmouth Folk Festival Community Interest Company, the event is made possible by more than 400 volunteers alongside artists, sponsors, partners and local organisations.
