Beautiful nature, good wages, clean air – on paper, Norway should be a dream for foreign residents. We delve into the responses, and what they tell about life in Norway for foreigners, or ‘expats’ as they’re referred to in the survey, in 2026. Interestingly, though, nearly a quarter of respondents (23 percent) said they moved to Norway for love – more than double the global share of 11 percent. That's despite Norway's economy being seen as genuinely strong – 79 percent of respondents rated it favourably, 20 points above the global average. But the complaints centred around the fact that this beauty doesn't translate into an enjoyable day-to-day social or cultural life overall.
