July 31: The Angels have made it officially, announcing they selected Murphy’s contract today. July 30: The Angels will select reliever Luke Murphy onto the MLB roster, reports Taylor Blake Ward of Baseball America. Murphy went unselected in last year’s Rule 5 draft after allowing 48 runs in 45 1/3 minor league innings. Murphy is 18-20 in save chances and has punched out 32% of opposing hitters against a 7% walk rate. Murphy had a disastrous 23-game run in Triple-A last season, so the Angels will jump him over that level directly into the MLB bullpen.
