A Brookfield woman was hospitalized after running off a Chariton County roadway early Thursday, July 30. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 21-year-old was driving north on Route 11, about three miles south of Mendon, when at around 1:40 a.m., she began to fall asleep. Her SUV ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment, becoming airborne. She was taken by ambulance to a Columbia hospital. Troopers say she had not been wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
