Microsoft has confirmed that its transition to OneDrive-backed Microsoft Whiteboards is entering its final stage. Microsoft says every legacy whiteboard that hasn’t been migrated or exported will be permanently deleted, with no recovery option available afterward. Microsoft also confirmed that the standalone Microsoft Whiteboard app for desktop and mobile will reach the end of support on September 14, 2026. Going forward, enterprise users will access Microsoft Whiteboard directly through Microsoft Teams, replacing the standalone application. Once legacy whiteboards are deleted, Microsoft says they cannot be restored or migrated under any circumstances.
