RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y — Local municipalities are dealing with the aftermath of a torrential rainstorm on Thursday, as teams attempt to mitigate the damage inflicted on roadways and properties. Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin said the most important thing was that no one was hurt or killed during the rain and flooding. He added that there are several state and county roads that have been affected as well due to the flooding. In addition to road damage and flooding to residents’ basements, a 200+-year-old mill collapsed during the height of the storm. County Route 50 (Millers Corners Road) in Sand Lake and a section of County Route 1 (Muitzeskill Road) in Schodack were closed, as well as Sagendorf, Simons, and Shufelt.
