These are the words that local author and longtime Crook County resident Rick Steber shared on his social media account when he announced that his home was destroyed in the Green Mountain Fire. The cabin was located up McKay Creek in Crook County, Steber said, an area in which firefighters have worked aggressively to protect homes and other structures.
