To volunteer on the trails and become part of a welcoming, growing trails community. (Deschutes Trails Coalition/Contributed)Summer is here, and for many of us that means spending more time outside — enjoying warm weather, long days, and access to our incredible network of local trails on public lands. Land management agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department may come to mind first. As a result, our agencies have been limited at the local level in their ability to support trails as they have in the past. By supporting the organizations that care for these places, we can help keep Central Oregon’s trails accessible, resilient and welcoming for generations to come.
