Exclusive: Rapist policeman who ‘respected’ jury’s guilty verdict is appealing conviction and sentence

A former Inverness police officer who “respected” the jury’s verdict after being found guilty of rape is now appealing his conviction, The Press and Journal can reveal today.
A High Court judge will then consider whether the appeal raises arguable grounds in what is known as the “sift” process.
Ross claimed police ‘conspiracy’Throughout the High Court trial Ross denied every charge.
The prosecution had treated Ross’s partner as a hostile witness as she attempted to retract the allegations she had previously made against him.
Ross’s appeal will now proceed through the High Court process.
