A former Inverness police officer who “respected” the jury’s verdict after being found guilty of rape is now appealing his conviction, The Press and Journal can reveal today. A High Court judge will then consider whether the appeal raises arguable grounds in what is known as the “sift” process. The prosecution had treated Ross’s partner as a hostile witness as she attempted to retract the allegations she had previously made against him. Ross’s appeal will now proceed through the High Court process.
