BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA - As the calendar is set to turn to August, there is a new set of laws that are going to be going into effect starting this week. Most laws passed during the regular legislative session officially become law on August 1 unless lawmakers choose a different date. Under Act 196, intentionally releasing balloons outdoors is now considered a form of littering under Louisiana law. Another law, Act 211, makes it illegal to use images of minors to train AI systems that create child sexual abuse material. Stronger Anti-Hazing RulesA new law named the Caleb Wilson Hazing Prevention Act will strengthen Louisiana’s hazing laws.
