WWEChad Gable has opened up about Ludwig Kaiser taking over his El Grande Americano WWE character, and how his perspective on it changed with time.
In early 2025, Chad Gable’s lack of success against luchador opponents led to him adopting the masked El Grande Americano character.
While it began as a parody of Mexican culture and lucha libre, El Grande Americano evolved to become the most beloved member of the WWE AAA roster, albeit after Chad Gable was replaced under the mask by Ludwig Kaiser in July 2025.
With Kaiser speaking fluent Spanish, unlike Gable, and embracing the Mexican fans rather than making fun of them, Kaiser became the true El Grande Americano in the eyes of many, and he eventually established that he would continue as the character for the foreseeable future when he defeated Gable – aka ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano in a Mask vs.
With Gable passing the torch to Kaiser to continue on as the only El Grande Americano in AAA, he has now shared his honest thoughts on Kaiser’s work in the role whilst appearing on What Do You Wanna Talk About?
