A replica of Johnny 5 the “Short Circuit‘ robot — built by a devoted fan, Ryan Howard, of Nottingham, England — was here with Ryan for the movie’s 40th anniversary on June 6 and 7, and was seen gliding around town. He spent over $25,000 creating Johnny, which has over 10,000 parts and “can be programmed to sing, dance and talk as well as grab a beer or two from the pub.” When Johnny hadn’t turned up by July 17 after being shipped home to England, Ryan worried that Johnny was lost.
