Crossroads Church holds 65th anniversary eventCrossroads Community Church, 40618 Old Highway 30 in Svensen, is holding a 65th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 2. The event starts with a service at 10:45 a.m., followed by activities including a historical video presentation, a bouncy house and water slide, yard games, rock painting and fellowship. Local students named Northwest Conference Scholar AthletesMCMINNVILLE — Recently, the Northwest Conference office announced the annual NWC Scholar Athletes list, naming 220 student-athletes from Linfield University as honorees. The honor is given to student-athletes of NWC institutions who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the academic year who have also participated as team players during the varsity season. Among those honored were the following local students from Astoria: Kya Lindell, a nursing major who competed in softball; Logan Morrill, an applied physics major who competed in men’s basketball; and Parker Stevens, an exercise science major who competed in men’s track and field.
