Earlier, NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, disclosed that the union’s National Executive Council unanimously selected Ajayi for the prestigious award. According to him, the honour was in recognition of the DSS boss’s commitment to fostering constructive engagement with the media, as well as the agency’s support for the NUJ National Security Summit held in Abuja in June. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the DSS and members of the NUJ national leadership, including the National Secretary, Comrade Achike Chude, and the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike.
