Gunma man to avoid charges over burned corpse of Brazilian woman dumped in 2 decades agoIBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police plan to refer a man in his 50s to prosecutors on Thursday over the dumping and mutilation of the corpse of a 28-year-old Brazilian woman in 2006, investigative sources revealed, reports Kyodo News (July 29).
However, the suspect, a resident of Gunma Prefecture, is expected to escape indictment.
The three-year statute of limitations for the charges of abandoning and damaging a corpse expired in 2009.
Early on the morning of September 24, 2006, the severely burned remains of the woman were discovered on a remote mountain road in the Iwase area of Sakuragawa City.
Police allege the man wrapped the victim’s body in a futon and a blue plastic tarp before dumping it and setting it ablaze.
