The Attorney-General has moved to challenge the Court of Appeal’s decision that cleared former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu of all charges, setting the stage for another legal battle at the Supreme Court.
“The Attorney-General remains committed to the due process of law and is confident that the appeal before the Supreme Court will succeed,” the statement said.
The Financial Division 2 of the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe, subsequently sentenced her to 10 years imprisonment.
Tamakloe-Attionu returned to Ghana on June 9, 2026, after being extradited from the United States, where she had travelled in 2021 for medical treatment with permission from the High Court while her trial was ongoing.
If the Supreme Court grants the Attorney-General’s application for a stay of execution, Tamakloe-Attionu’s release could be delayed pending the final determination of the appeal.
