Levittown STEM Camp inspires students to reach for the stars

Students in grades 3-8 participated in the Levittown School District’s STEM Camp from July 13-24, taking part in science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities centered on the theme of space exploration.
Students in grades 3-5 completed hands-on projects that included building model Mars rovers from pasta, launching stomp rockets, constructing electrical circuits and designing plant-growing habitats for Mars.
Students in grades 6-8 participated in engineering and technology projects that included designing water bottle rockets while learning about NASA’s history and the engineering design process.
Additional activities included designing devices to safely land a “space alien turkey” while applying concepts such as gravity and drag.
Student volunteers from Division Avenue High School and General Douglas MacArthur High School assisted with camp activities and worked with younger participants throughout the two-week program.
