Taxpayer Spent £10,000 on Every ‘Soft Power Council’ Meeting Skived Off by Cabinet Ministers
['Max Young']
Guido Fawkes
A useless government council which was skived off by Cabinet ministers cost £10,000 every time it met, new figures reveal.
Cheap by Civil Service standards…The ‘Soft Power Council’ launched under the last Starmer government to co-ordinate between the Foreign Office and DCMS on projecting British influence.
And it only had four…Documents uncovered by Guido’s FOI Unit show that every meeting of the widely disparaged Soft Power Council were allocated £10,000 in taxpayer cash.
In addition, between ten and 14 staff manned a Joint Soft Power Hub to support its work.
Hard cash for soft power?
