A proposal that earned Pittsburgh Planning Commission approvals Tuesday would create a community for adults 55 and older in the city’s Banksville neighborhood. The proposed development by Split Rock Real Estate, called Banksville Golden Horizons, would include 123 for-sale, single-family modular homes, each with a two-car garage. The new community would be built on a 26.44-acre property off Winchester Road, the site that formerly housed Vincentian Marian Manor. In its place, Kamin said, the new development will become Pittsburgh’s first dedicated community for adults age 55 and older. The planning commission unanimously supported preliminary plans for the site.
