About 4:30 p.m. on July 29, community members gathered at the newly completed Duck Inn Pocket Park along the Arkansas River. Some arrived in wheelchairs and others with walking aids, reflecting the broad community that has benefited from Salida’s network of accessible parks and trails. A Chaffee County commissioner, a Salida city council member, and parks officials joined dozens of residents for the dedication. A bench installed at the park was also dedicated in Rhoads’ honor, recognizing her leadership in creating and preserving Salida’s parks and trails.
