Ugandan fashion designer David Mulolo, popularly known as Speedball, and artist Joshua Waiswa, alias Josh SB, are set to headline the inaugural Speedball Summer, a streetwear fashion and cultural showcase aimed at celebrating Ugandan creativity through fashion and music. “We were tired of the same old fashion runways,” Mulolo said. When we discussed the fashion show, the orchestra idea landed perfectly because it felt unique and disruptive,” he added. Mulolo said Speedball Summer was created to address a gap in Uganda’s creative ecosystem by demonstrating that young creatives can raise industry standards through innovative fashion campaigns, events and original content. The two creatives said Uganda’s creative industry has significant potential to contribute to economic growth and tourism by showcasing locally produced talent and ideas.
