Speaking at Pakistan's first Economic Summit in Islamabad, Naqvi said the current administrative system "has collapsed"ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has called for the creation of new administrative units, saying Pakistan’s existing governance system has failed and requires structural reforms to address the country’s longstanding challenges.
Speaking at Pakistan’s first Economic Summit in Islamabad, Naqvi said the current administrative system “has collapsed” and argued that meaningful progress would not be possible without fundamental institutional changes.
“We have to move toward new administrative units or provinces, whatever name they are given,” Naqvi said, adding that the issue should ultimately be taken to the public for a decision.
He said the country’s system needs a “reset” to achieve sustainable improvement and warned that delaying reforms would only deepen existing problems.
Referring to the country’s youth, Naqvi said young people are demanding merit-based employment opportunities and cautioned that their collective frustration could have significant consequences.
