If you were going out to eat, there were a handful of options: Herb’s Creamland, the Tastee-Freez, or Mac’s Cafe. More than anything, I think my dad liked going there so he could shoot the breeze with the waitress. But hands down, almost everyone’s go-to order was the hot steak sandwich. I wish I could still get a chili dog from the Tastee-Freez or a hot steak sandwich from Mac’s. I can still taste that hot steak sandwich and coconut milkshake if I think about it.
