JEFFERSON – Jefferson officials are considering another animal-related ordinance related to impoundment – although where animals would be kept is unclear. The Jefferson council earlier this year adopted rules regarding dangerous and loose dogs, vaccinations and more. The latest ordinance, which had its first reading at a recent Jefferson council meeting, includes a new definition for stray dogs. Currently, animal cases that require impoundment start with law enforcement, which then calls Friends of Jefferson Animals to dispatch animals. Marion County does not have an ordinance addressing animal impoundment nor a facility where animals can be kept.
