A heritage, design and access statement has been submitted in support of a planning application for internal alterations at the Grade II‑listed March Town Hall in Market Place. The scheme, prepared by Swann Edwards Architecture for Mr Skoulding, covers works entirely within the building, with no changes to the external elevations, roof or architectural detailing. March businessman Robert Skoulding has applied for permission to carry out some internal works at the Grade II listed March Town Hall - his purchase of the building is set to complete 'imminently'. The application comes as Mr Skoulding moves to buy the Town Hall from March Civic Trust, which has said it can no longer afford the extensive repairs needed to the landmark building. In the planning statement, March Town Hall is described as a prominent civic building that has long served as a focal point for administration and community activity, making a positive contribution to the historic town centre streetscape.
