A Kier job to upgrade Oxford Station has been further delayed after excavation works for drainage uncovered three gas leaks. Network Rail said this was partly due to costs associated with the fifth platform at Oxford Station and construction of the western entrance. It was due to open in August but Network Rail said this will now be delayed until 20 September. “During excavation work relating to drainage for the new road layout, three minor gas leaks were identified on part of the gas network owned by SGN,” Network Rail said. The pipe has not been damaged by the Network Rail work,” it said in a statement.
