Durness Highland Gathering, held on Friday, July 24, was another successful event despite unseasonal weather and strong winds throughout the day. David Morrison, president of Durness Highland Gathering Association, and Alistair Morrison, association chairman, with 2026 Chieftain Mairi Eastcroft and previous chieftains. The day began with the traditional investiture of this year's Chieftain, Mairi Eastcroft, in the Village Square. The gift was presented by the chairman of the Durness Community Council, Donald Campbell, and the vice-chairman, Scott Macpherson. The Durness Highland Gathering is held annually on the fourth Friday of July and is recognised as the north-westernmost Highland Games on the Scottish mainland.
