Kirklees Estates were granted planning permission for their plans to convert part of Linden Works at Linden Road by Calderdale planning councillors in September 2021 on planning officers’ recommendation. Councillors explored the possibility of a legal agreement which would prohibit parking permit applications by the new residents, although officers advised them this was not possible. The Planning Committee councillors at that time had wanted to know if there was a way they could ensure the development was effectively made car-free. The council explains this is because the legal agreement remains outstanding and the application must now be reassessed against policies in Calderdale Council’s Local Plan, which was adopted in March 2023. In light of these circumstances, the application will then be reported back to Planning Committee for reconsideration and determination, says the authority.
