Havering recorded 47 incidents yesterday (Wednesday, July 29) - the highest number in the capital. The surge in callouts came as temperatures topped 30 degrees, and London Fire Brigade saw its busiest 24-hour period of 2026. Of these, 218 calls were to grass fires, with crews attending 63 separate grass fires across London in just 24 hours. Crews battled two grass fires on Ingrebourne Hill, Rainham, with nearly five hectares damaged.
