29 July 2026: Doctor at ShardaCare – Healthcity successfully saved the life of a 36-year-old woman who developed an extremely rare and life-threatening pregnancy complication after experiencing retained placenta in all four of her pregnancies. Multiple attempts to remove it were unsuccessful, and after nearly 10 hours, she was referred to ShardaCare – Healthcity in the early hours of the morning. Dr Ruchi also discovered that the patient had a unicornuate uterus, a rare birth defect in which only one side of the uterus develops normally. The combination of PAS with a unicornuate uterus is exceptionally rare, with only a handful of such cases reported worldwide. The team immediately performed an emergency hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to stop the bleeding and save her life.
