New community car will help bring hospice care to more people in rural areas

The vehicle, funded by the Grange-over-Sands Soroptimists, has been donated to St Mary’s Hospice thanks to a legacy left by late member Carol Edwards.
Penny Ward, a member of the Grange Soroptimists, said: "The Soroptimists have been proud supporters of St Mary’s Hospice for many years, and we recognise the essential role it plays within our community.
She said: "St Mary’s Hospice is a vital organisation that has continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of local communities.
Long-time supporters of St Mary’s, members of the Grange-over-Sands Soroptimists visited the hospice’s Ulverston site to officially hand over the vehicle.
Alison Alger, philanthropic giving manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Grange-over-Sands Soroptimists for their generous gift and for their long-standing support.
