Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service declared a major incident on Thursday morning after the blaze broke out at Dunwich Heath, near Leiston, shortly after 5.30pm on Wednesday. The fire is burning close to the Sizewell B nuclear power station and the construction site of the new Sizewell C plant. Firefighters have begun to dig breakers around the blaze using machinery from the Sizewell site. A Sizewell C spokesperson said in a statement: "We're closely monitoring the fire at Dunwich Heath.
