The Hyderabad police had earlier issued orders externing him from the city for a period of one year. Following his repeated involvement in criminal activities and his alleged role in maintaining a criminal gang, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar issued orders to detain him under the Preventive Detention Act for a period of one year. After the detention orders were issued, the Balapur police launched efforts to trace Mohd Asad, who was suspected to be moving around Nizamabad.
