If approved, the work at the school’s Shooting Field site will see the part-demolition of teaching buildings, Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs) and a 2G all-weather pitch. They will be replaced with two-storey and three-storey teaching buildings, a flood-lit 2G all-weather pitch, two three-pitch MUGAs, a courtyard, and an amphitheatre seating area. The site was chosen because several of the school buildings are in a poor condition and in need of urgent replacement. A report to the committee said: “Steyning Grammar School accommodates pupils aged between 13 and 19 across its three campuses: Towers in Upper Beeding, Rock Road in Storrington, and the application site, Shooting Field, in Steyning. “This application seeks to consolidate these three campuses into one at Shooting Field, so the Shooting Field site can accommodate all the school’s pupils.
