Following a special council meeting at Hove Town Hall yesterday, July 29, plans to replace the King Alfred Leisure Centre, in Hove, with a modern complex were approved. However, this will be subject to referral to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Angela Rayner. Ms Searle said that the leisure centre and housing scheme were separate – and the leisure centre could work with a future high-density housing scheme. The new leisure centre is a key part of the council’s sports facilities investment plan. The new leisure centre is expected to open in late 2028.
