Telangana and DoT join hands to crack down on SIM frauds, spoofed calls and phishing scamsHyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Thursday held a high-level coordination meeting to strengthen efforts against telecom-enabled cybercrimes, with a focus on curbing SIM frauds, spoofed calls and phishing attacks.
The meeting, chaired by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, IPS, was attended by senior DoT officials, representatives from the Intelligence Bureau, telecom service providers and TGCSB officers.
Improving coordination between telecoms and law officialsDiscussions centred on improving coordination between telecom stakeholders and law enforcement agencies to tackle the growing misuse of telecom infrastructure in cyber frauds.
Among the key issues discussed was the misuse of SIM boxes and other illegal telecom infrastructure used by cybercriminals.
They also discussed technical solutions to address international spoofed calls, VoIP-based frauds and telecom identity masking, besides improving mechanisms for blocking malicious URLs and phishing links.
