Planning authorities are required to keep their Local Plan up to date, and the government deadline for the submission of the draft NPA Local Plan for independent examination is December this year. Concerns have been raised over the late allocation of a travelling showpeople’s site in the Forest as part of the national park’s Local Plan review. At a recent meeting of the authority, concerns were raised over the addition of a proposed travelling showpeople’s site at Ringwood Road, Netley Marsh. There is only one existing travelling showpeople’s site within the national park; at Coles Yard in Netley Marsh, around 600 metres from the proposed allocation. Members voted 16 to two in favour of progressing the draft Local Plan, with a public consultation planned for August.
